Railway Bridge

The Railway
The view from above
The Conrail railway is a popular (but illegal) river crossing for Arb walkers. The railway crosses the river from the north to the south bank when passing eastward. The short bridge is well-known to Ann Arbor residents, and is used by pedestrians intent on reaching the far side of the river. However, because of the danger of passing trains, the crossing is banned by the railroad authorities. Crossing the railroad bridge is considered trespassing, and many efforts have been made to discourage it. (So far, no one has tried the obvious solution: a raised walking bridge over the tracks.) Meanwhile, people continue to use the bridge, cutting through fences, tearing down walls, and avoiding patrols.
