Central Campus

The University of Michigan has grown rapidly during the last century, expanding from the original plot of land just east of town to cover four major campuses in the Ann Arbor area. Likewise, the city has grown around the University and become rich in culture and spirit.

Central campus is the area surrounding the original site of the University in the 19th century, and closest to downtown Ann Arbor. It is here that most of the University's classical architecture is found, and where most of the culture is found. The interweaving with the city creates an atmosphere of constant activity, with something new happening every day.
