Seen from the Fishbowl, the South wing of the Harlan Hatcher Graduate Library building earns its nickname, "The Stacks". This addition to the library was added in the 1970s. I remember looking out into the construction area from the elevators on an upper floor during that time, seeing girders and lots of empty space! The University of Michigan still boasts one of the largest research library collections in the world, and it now provides access to digital information resources around the world as well.
