| EECS was one of the first University buildings to include a large atrium. It has since served as a model for many others. Here, the atrium passes through the middle of the building. Four north-south corridors pass over the atrium via catwalks on the second, third, and fourth floors. At ground level, the atrium's floor is paved with polished stone and brick, as are the walls on either side. This creates a turn-of-the-century outdoors feel, accentuated by the lush indoor trees and globe-style streetlamps.
