Getting Ready

We began planning our adoption in December 2001. At the time, we expected that it might be anywhere from six months to a year before we'd have our child. Little did we know that it would be just about exactly nine months from the beginning of the process to our trip to Ukraine to meet our baby!

	Paperwork The first part of our preparation was almost entirely paperwork. We needed lots and lots (and lots) of it, and it all had to be done just so.
	Baby Shower Our church held a baby shower for us, and we were overwhelmed by the generosity of our friends.
	The Nursery It took a lot of work to convert the guest room of our house into a nursery for the baby. Kristin had a plan, and she and Lee did it all themselves.
	Packing Kristin started packing months before the trip! In the end, of course, much was left until the last few days.
