The Nursery

Our nursery is all set! The walls are newly painted, the rug laid out, the furniture assembled and set up, and the toys are finding their places. Everything has even been kid-tested by our friends Megan and Steve's baby boy, Weston, during their visit here in September.

The bookshelves were salvaged from other rooms in the house. The big white rocking chair was Lee's childhood rocking chair, and his mother's before him. The small blue rocking chair was Kristin's when she was little.  (Kristin repainted both chairs.) The small cupboard is from IKEA, with cute animal doorknobs from Babies 'R' Us.

The rug is from Pottery Barn. Kristin picked it out when she decided on the colors for the room. We matched the green paint for the trim around the floor, door, and closet from the green on the rug and the green gingham accessories. The blue is a great contrast.

The crib is a nice, modern one. It can be converted into a loveseat later on, or into the headboard for a full-size bed. The baskets on the bookshelves have blue and green gingham liners that match the walls and the rug.

The Kamlays and Morgans gave us the very nice Pottery Barn crib set. We love the way it matches everything in the room. The blankets and toys are from members of our church who threw a baby shower for us.

The closet and the windows have trim the same color as the rest of the room.

We took the doors off of the closet in order to make the room larger. The chest of drawers is a changing table (the top swings out to provide the changing table surface) but it also can be expanded above to become a hutch with bookshelves on top. We took the doors off of the storage area above the closet also, and Kristin thought it would be fun to fill it with stuffed animals. The snake is an IKEA item that Kristin's had her eye on for a couple of years now. The painting supplies are gone now, of course!
